What's New

EAA Dallas

This program involves the obtaining and renovation of abandoned properties.  A few of this program benefits are:

  • Creates jobs

  • Helps stop the destruction of our neighborhoods, Improve Chicago Communities and stimulates growth

  • Created assistance to homeless and in danger of being homeless

  • Generates affordable housing for Low-middle income individuals    and families

In an effort to improve our communities, create jobs and affordable housing, EAA has successfully recycled properties which were destined to be destroyed.  We purchase properties that are burned out, vandalized, properties that are in need of vast amounts of work and thus are hard to sell, and properties in danger of being demolished through court orders.  These properties were acquired through:

  • Foreclosures

  • U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

  • Bank Owned or Mortgage Holder

  • Chicago Abandoned Property Program (CAPP)

  • Donation of distressed, burned out or hard to sell properties

These properties are then rehabbed by EAA workers, dedicated Volunteers and/or local Contractors.  They are sold at affordable prices to low-middle income individuals and families and some are offered to assist the homeless or those who are in danger of becoming homeless.

We at European American Association are especially proud of the fact that a few properties were offered to the temporally homeless that we had assisted.  Through EAA intervention and assistance with food, housing, energy assistance, and job placement made it possible for these, once homeless individuals and families, to proudly re-enter society and after a few years of very hard work, and with the help of EAA, were actually able to qualify for a mortgage.  Once homeless and living in their car or under bridges, not knowing where their next meal would come from, and now, they too have realized the American Dream of owning their own home.

EAA assists our clients in understanding the process of buying and owning a home.  Provide essential information and resources to the client regarding the process of obtaining a mortgage, lending institutions, property taxes, homeowner's insurance and simple home maintenance.  Work with our clients every step of the way and keep in contact with them after purchase and offer counseling on an as need basis.

Updates for available properties, or information on Donating properties to EAA see the Housing-Community Development News Page
